What happens when a rare conjunction between Pluto and Uranus occurs and what affect does it hold in store for the lives of everyday ‘ordinary folk’?

Well it’s something that Dave from the post room is about to find out. Pluto is in Uranus and for him this indicates that everything is about to come up smelling of roses or so he thinks!

Having been born on December 25th made Dave a Capricorn, and as a Christmas day baby he felt rare, special and part of a very exclusive club.

But as he only ever received cards and presents on one day of the year, it also made him feel hard done by.

Another irritation of being born on this day, according to Dave, was its accountability for his obsessive-compulsive interest in cosmology and astrology.

His mother recalls that even as a young child his favourite bedtime book was Old Moore’s Almanack.

Having read thousands of prophecies over the years, the fact that none had ever resulted in any positive outcomes, did little to tarnish their validity, or dissuade him from still being a believer!

However, things are about to happen that will test this resolve!

Uranus, the planet of change, and Pluto, the planet of revolution, are in historical alignment, signifying an imminent period of major toil and trouble.

When Capricorns are in for a bumpy ride, as Dave is about discover.

His fated decision-making will result in extraordinary, hilarious and ominous consequences and his lucky omens will come back to taunt him!

“Denzel, or Dense Al as he’s known, is probably the stupidest of the lot. “He believes that the coloured sand inside of seaside glass souvenirs are the cremated remains of clowns’ ashes

and that the Houses of Parliament is a brown sauce factory"

Don't take my word, take theirs!

Lecari 4.0 out of 5 stars A fun, slightly surreal read that is sure to brighten up your day! Dave is obsessed with his daily horoscope, which he reads every morning. His horoscope predicts that a rare conjunction between Pluto and Uranus will give him good fortune and that some unexpected opportunities are about to come his way. After following its advice, he makes some new friends as well as a few enemies too.

I was drawn to Pluto’s in Uranus after reading the author bio and blurb, which made me chuckle straight away.

I really liked the main character, Dave. He was really relatable and I felt for him throughout the novel as he becomes embroiled in more and more surreal scenarios! His parents are great characters too — his visit to see them was a great addition to the story. I laughed at how he and his Mum have been replacing the garden produce with supermarket vegetables, and his Dad singing ‘Greenfinger’ to the tune of Goldfinger.

I enjoyed the jokes and banter between Dave, Foggy and Jo/Joe too. A lot of this was great fun and flowed really well, such as when Dave and Joe think Foggy’s real name is Lionel and start singing Lionel Ritchie classics to him. I could definitely imagine these as real conversations between friends!

The humour in the book is great.

Pluto’s in Uranus is a fun, slightly surreal read that is sure to brighten up your day. It’s a fairly quick read at 204 pages and is packed with interesting characters and a good story. It felt like a sequel may be on the cards from the ending — and I think it is the only book I’ve read that ends with the word ‘pancake’!

Rosaline Hawkins 4.0 out of 5 stars Laugh out loud funny This was a really fun read, Spike Milligan style. It managed to put a smile on my face in what has undoubtedly been a miserable year. It would make a perfect gift if you’re struggling for ideas for someone; or if you’re looking to cheer yourself up this is the book for you. Enjoy x

Michael Sumsion 5.0 out of 5 stars Pluto’s in Uranus A very enjoyable romp. An easy read with good comedic references. Hope for a follow up to Dave's adventures
